Every single book by Harlen Coben is a "can't put it down!" If you like this genre, check out Steven James. But make sure you read his books in order. I guarantee you won't be able to put these books down either!

Despite the rave reviews, I was disappointed with this latest novel. It had too much description which left me skipping paragraphs in the hope of getting back to his usual action-packed stories. Can't say I'd recommend it.

My first thought was to say 4 but I couldn't easily put it down, so that's a 5 isn't it? Settled at 4.5. Nap for Napoleon Dumas, a police detective in a small New Jersey city, still "talks" to his twin brother Leo who died in an apparent suicide with his girl friend Diane 15 years ago. Nap's own special, Maura, the love of his 18 year-old life, disappeared at the same time without saying a word of goodbye. Nap has looked for her during those 15 years with little to show for it, and then her fingerprints are found at the scene of a cop killing. When the officer turns out to have been a member of Leo's strange club along with Maura, Nap realizes he's onto something. What did happen to Leo? A delicious chase and a terrific surprise awaits. My first Coben and far from my last.

What a page turner! Set in my home state of New Jersey: Brash. Wise-guy. Never give up. Baby, we were born to run.

There is one very detailed & disturbing torture scene I would have preferred not to have encountered. Otherwise this was an excellent novel.

The death of his twin brother changed Nap Dumas' future. It has been 15 years of one-sided conversations as Nap's quest to figure out the what & why that of Leo that led him to become a police detective.

Nap's high school love disappeared the same night of Leo's death. When her fingerprints are found at a crime scene, Nap buries himself in finding answers and hopefully Maura.

This deserves a 5/5 except for the disturbing violence.

I don't think Coben has written a bad book yet. Love him!

Louise Penny also wrote a novel 2 years ago about those secretive missile bases on the East Coast in the 70's and 80's. Coben's story is more provocative as it deals with the deaths of 2 teens on the site of such a missile base situated in a small upscale community. These deaths were covered up by the Agency. 15 years later another murder leads one cop into opening up an investigation into the deaths of those 2 teens. The focus of the plot, then, is how did those 2 teens really die? I enjoyed following the leads and assessing the actions of these teens. Coban adds layers of detail about their lives through the cop who does the investigating. Just accept the consequences and the fall out of their actions, as Coban tells it, without giving too much thought about reality.

This was my first Harlan Coben book. Sometimes, I like an easy, uncomplicated read just before bed and this fit the bill. It was an interesting mystery with a likeable protangonist.

Didn't care for this book at all. Too many unrealistic things go on. I felt myself several times go really? Knew who did it early on. Usually like his books a lot...Not this one.

Coben's best yet, and all the previous ones have been awesome! Great story line, never sure where it's going and when it finally gets to the end, it's in a place I never even thought of until the last chapter. Quick read too, couldn't put it down. This guy has a creative imagination and tells a great story. Enjoy.

The quintessential page turner, and I'm glad I'm retired. I read it in one day (and night). Harlan is the best storyteller, with the best commentaries on life in these times. His plots and characters are the equal of Elmore Leonard, yet his breezy style of writing makes every sentence a joy to read. Even the cameo appearance by Myron Bolivar flows with the story.
