Occasionally a film is so bad that it becomes a cult classic. This one might qualify. I'll never know. The so-called dialog & acting was so terrible I quit after 20 min. Jeff Goldblum must have been seriously broke to do this. His performance probably reflects his paycheck.

I can't believe there are actually positive ratings here & on movie sites. Has the general IQ dropped that much? Perhaps "Idiocracy" is already here, not 500 years in the future.
Try that film.

Like bdls206 said, I should have watched Henry Fool first ... a bit overwhelming initially by the numerous characters early on but made sense as a comic fantasy centered around a eccentric attractive single mom.

I love Posey Parker's work.

The movie contains several fondly remembered elements of its prequel, Henry Fool. Parker Posey does a wonderful job in this movie. I highly recommend watching Henry fool before seeing this. This movie is not a must see by any means but it is surely worth watching.

Henry Fool: You see? They have to bludgeon a man into obscurity before they'll acknowledge his genius.

A ten-years-later continuation of Hal Hartley's "Henry Fool", where Fay Grim (Posey) is coerced by a CIA agent (Goldblum) to try and locate notebooks that belonged to her fugitive ex-husband (Ryan). Published in them is information that could compromises the security of the U.S., causing Fay to first head to Paris to fetch them.
