Had to see what all the hoopla was about. Vulgar language, nudity, poor values, beheading - not a family film. No thanks.

As for someone who actually read the books, because I really liked the complicated plot and real characters and how there were many different personalities. Also a lot of fighting and battles and politics. 90% of this show was spot on with the book,There are several additional scenes in the TV series, taking place in Winterfell, which introduce the Stark family. Bran is shown practicing archery, while his father is watching him. The scene with needlework, which involves Sansa and Arya, is moved to the beginning of the series, before King Robert arrives. In the book, the scenes in Winterfell begin with the deserter's execution.

The most boring sitcom I ever seen! Excellent example of overrated and overhyped...give this 1 star

This show is really slow and really fast. It takes a while for an exciting scene to happen but when it happens, it is fascinating. Great first season.

Highly recommend watching "GAME OF THRONES 1X01 BREAKDOWN" on New Rockstars YouTube channel. The season 8 breakdowns are pretty amazing too, as it ties up the entire series.

I joined into this show late, on purpose, because I knew there would be so many cliffhangers and a change from the book plot - that I decided to wait. My waiting has paid off, it seems like 'Winter is Finally Coming' and the show is as good as everyone has been raving about for years. You fall in love with the characters, the settings and the plot. I love the direction that they choose to go with for some of the female characters (Cersei). Everything about this show is great. Catch up, because HBO has really outdone itself with this fantasy series.

Why are there no Dothraki-dialog English subtitles on your digital versatile disks of 'Game of Thrones'? Where can I go, on this Web site, to discover how to get the missing subtitles; and why are they missing in the first place? This is a spectacular omission! Please contact me at your earliest convenience with a solution to this error of yours. (Having to view the entire series with constant English subtitles is not a solution.) Thank you for your timely attention to this matter.

This show is one of the few cases I have ever seen where the visual medium is better than the books. The show streamlines the rather meandering plots from the books, for the most in successful ways. The acting is superb in this show. They got fantastic actors like Lena Headey, Peter Dinklage, and Sean Bean for the roles. The sets are amazing. The costuming is sublime. In his books, George R.R. Martin set out to bring the grittiness, bloody darkness from medieval Europe that the rest of epic fantasy tends to gloss over. The show brings it to life in gory technicolor, telling the story of political machinations amongst four houses: the Starks, Lannisters, Baratheons, and Targaryens, plus all their hangers-on. At the start of the series, the Targaryens, who were the previous ruling house, are, as far as anyone knows, down to two: Viserys and Daenerys and living in exile. The Baratheons, led by King Robert, had won the throne through a rebellion about sixteen years prior. Ned Stark is one of King Robert's closest friends, who has to make some tough decisions. The Lannisters are one of the most powerful and wealthiest families in the seven kingdoms, and one of their members, Cersei, is Robert's wife, and the queen. The show is utterly fascinating, though not for everyone, as there as scenes of graphic violence, sex, nudity, and language.
