Weak, poor excuse for a movie. Even by modern day Disney and Hallmark standards, this one is a real stinker. Not suitable for anyone.

I'm not a fan of animals, but this movie and the girl, Kirra, touched me. A delightful movie to enjoy in addition to topics like communication and family relationship. A big surprise for me - expected entertainment only.

No movie has ever left me as shaken as this one. The kid is just amazing.

Script & performances vacillate oddly between being very natural & being very stilted & trite. Nevertheless, the good things outweigh the bad & include: delightful menagerie, gorgeous views of the South African coast, captivating child actor Siyabulela Ramba, & the honesty with which the main characters confront their messy family situation. Pretty okay entertainment for smaller small fry & tree huggers.
