From the #1 New York Times bestselling author of Hopeless and Losing Hope.

Falling in love can feel like poetry. Or it can feel like a slam to the heart.

Colleen Hoover's romantic, emotion-packed debut novel unforgettably captures all the magic and confusion of first love, as two young people forge an unlikely bond before discovering that fate has other plans for them.

Following the unexpected death of her father, eighteen-year-old Layken becomes the rock for both her mother and younger brother. She appears resilient and tenacious, but inside, she's losing hope. Then she meets her new neighbor Will, a handsome twenty-one-year-old whose mere presence leaves her flustered and whose passion for poetry slams thrills her.

Not long after a heart-stopping first date during which each recognizes something profound and familiar in the other, they are slammed to the core when a shocking discovery brings their new relationship to a sudden halt. Daily interactions become impossibly painful as they struggle to find a balance between the feelings that pull them together and the forces that tear them apart. Only through the poetry they share are they able to speak the truth that is in their hearts and imagine a future where love is cause for celebration, not regret.

This is one of my favorite books!! Colleen Hoover is my favorite author and I'm glad I've discovered her. This book is so beautifully written, with well-developed characters that make you just want to be their best friend! The plot twists that Colleen Hoover writes (almost all of her books have a shocking plot twist) really makes you engaged and intrigued with the book. Truthfully, I find myself crying by the end of her books. Usually because it's over. HIGHLY recommend!!

First off this book is about poetry, slam poetry that's why it's called slammed. Secondly, this book was definitely amazing bc it's by C Hoover and she's the greatest :))

This book is amazingly put together. Filled with raw emotion, responsibilities, and a passion for poetry, this is not your traditional love story.

I enjoyed this book. It wasn't what I expected. It reads somewhat like youth fiction, but it has a good story and I'm looking forward to reading the next two.

Forbidden romance is the best kind out there! This is one of the most enticing romance novels I have read; I read it all in less then a day and I do not regret it! The poetry in this book is the cherry on top.

I just finished this book, and I can say that it is a book that you cannot put down. I kept reading all 312 pages right up until the sneak peak of the next book. It doesn't follow many cliches. It is a different type of romance in my opinion. And the poetry is beautiful. A fantastic read for romantics, or even people interested in poetry!

I love this book! This book is not just about love but life. There are parts where you would want to cry and sometimes laugh. The slam parts are the best parts. If you don't like poetry, it will change after you read this book.
