1964's "A Hard Day's Night" (A.H.D.N., for short) was, in reality, a very silly and, somewhat, zany rock'n'roll-type comedy, featuring The Fab 4 (aka. The Beatles).

This flick went to great lengths to present The Beatles as being "just-a-fun-bunch-of-guys". I found The Beatles' overall wholesomeness to be just a little too contrived, and cute, for my liking.

The highlight of A.H.D.N. was, without a doubt, all of the "Beatle-Hysteria" that got churned up wherever The Fab 4 went. The rabid Beatle fans never, ever seemed to tire of running, and screaming, like crazed lunatics, after The Beatles day, or night. It was all so very frightening and comical, both, at the same time.

I think this is one of those love/hate films - you will either love it, or you will hate it (find it extremely self-indulgent and scattered). Where you land is almost entirely decided by whether you are a Beatles fan or not. If you are a Beatles fan, you will love the nostalgia, the music, and the fun antics in the film. If you are not a Beatles fan, you might find the film like a spoiled child, self-indulgent and immature. This film was not made to be an achievement of cinema - this film was made to delight Beatles fans. And I think most Beatles fans will be delighted to watch it.

The quintessential Beatles film by Richard Lester is now a part of the Criterion Collection! This classic black and white film is a must see for any Beatles fan, both novice, and die hard alike. This brilliant film is fifty odd years old and still ages supremely. You would be hard pressed to not enjoy the humorous high jinks that the Fab Four find themselves in!

I like the Beatles but this movie is garbage. No plot, no point, only 3 or 4 funny parts, made solely to secure distribution rights to the songs.

I think the planets must have aligned, or there was some other rare, cosmic force at work, to have brought these four talented, charismatic, mop-topped lads from Liverpool together. Their harmonies and melodies were just magical (the incredible producer Sir George Martin's brilliant musical direction and influence deserves a mention, as well). This 1964 'mockumentary', (which directly influenced the format of "The Monkees" TV show), captured a brief, magnificent snapshot of their skyrocketing, chaotic lives, almost fifty years ago. Hounded by the press, attacked by mobs of ferocious, hysterical girls, pressured by endless producers, agents, recording studios, stuffed shirts... And even though these twenty-somethings handled all that stress effortlessly... always smiling... they needed escape. Down a fire exit to run around like madmen in an empty field. Or poetically into the sky in a helicopter. With Paul's cheeky grandfather. A very clean old man. The Beatles were genius, and they changed the world. And my life, for the better, for always.

Ringo: "I don't snore." George: "You do. Repeatedly." Ringo: "Do I snore, John?" John: "Yeah, you're a window rattler, son." Ringo: "That's just your opinion. Do I snore, Paul?" Paul: "With a trombone hooter like yours, it would be unnatural if you didn't." Grandfather: "Now, Paulie... don't mock the afflicted." Paul: "Ah, come off it. It's only a joke!" Grandfather: "Aye, it may be a joke to you, but it's his nose. He can't help havin' a hideous great hooter! And his poor little head, tremblin' under the weight of it!"

Grandfather: "It's your nose, you know. Fans are funny that way, they take a dislike to things. They'll pick on a nose." Ringo: "Aw, you pick on your own."
