Annie is a young, happy foster kid who's also tough enough to make her way on the streets of New York. Originally left by her parents as a baby with the promise that they'd be back for her someday, it's been a hard knock life ever since with her mean foster mom Miss Hannigan. But everything's about to change when the hard-nosed tycoon and New York mayoral candidate Will Stacks, advised by his brilliant VP, Grace and Guy, makes a thinly-veiled campaign move and takes her in.

This is one of my all time favourite movie! Personally I like the newer version better. This movie is just like the original but it has its own modern twist to it, making it a better movie in my opinion. Ever since her parents left her as a baby, little Annie has led a hard-knock life with her calculating foster mother, Miss Hannigan. However, all that changes when hard-nosed billionaire and mayoral candidate Will Stacks takes her in on the recommendation of his advisers. Stacks believes that he's Annie's guardian angel, but the plucky youngster's confidence and sunny outlook may mean that Annie will save Will instead. My favourite part of the movie would have to be either the ending of the movie because this movie had one of the most sweetest ending or all the songs that Annie sang. My favourite song would have to be Tomorrow because it was the most heart-melting and relatable song. I love how relatable this movie is for some people. I would recommend this movie to people of all ages because it is a family friendly movie and it will be enjoyed by everyone! Overall, this is a fantastic movie! 5/5

I know why this version bombed. It's in no way true to the original-- which took place during the 1930's great depression. It tried to make Annie 'hip hop' and gloss over the BIG class discrepancies which intentionally existed.

Today's conservatives moan and yell about infrastructure but the fact remains most of them actually would not have existed without the new deal itself because there only was the 1 percent and everybody else living in extreme poverty when the stock markets crashed.....that was it. It WAS a rough landing.

Annie herself isn't supposed to have modern convieniences before she meets. she had been attending school while at Miss Hannigan's in this adaptation. And I was allegedly supposed to like this--but why on earth would Miss Hannigan want to teach the girls something that could potentially help them out??

Wow. Wonderful remake of the Annie movie. Sia's new music compositions for this movie are lovely to listen to. I normally don't buy sound tracks to movies but I'll look for this one. Actress Quvenzhane is a very talented new Annie.

Recommend for the library "Notable" DVD shelf as a family friendly option.

I hated this movie, I have seen and loved both the 80's and 90's versions of Annie. They changed the story and the songs, not good. Sure the kids cute but I had high expectations and this movie didn't fullfill them at all. I dont get why anyone liked this movie. Maybe you could kinda like it if you hadn't seen the original but still. 0 to 1 stars.

Awesome!
I enjoyed this movie when I saw it in the theater, thought Jamie Foxx was superb in his role, and even liked Cameron Diaz, whose acting I've never particularly cared for [would never consider her remotely in the class of a Marisa Tomei or Julia Stiles, for instance]. Never understood the original Annie and Daddy Warbucks, for crissakes!

I think the movie was great and musical! However, some parts were too modern for what Annie actually is. Four stars because it's good- but Annie is a classical musical. Never forget.

It's a good movie, not a great one. While those who wanted just a update to more current times may or may not be disappointed, it's still worth a watch.

I liked most of the new music and yes, some songs aren't always recognizable as the original, but for the most part, I think it kept in spirit of the original.

Some of the acting isn't as good as could be expected, but it deserves 3 stars. Wasn't Jaime Foxx's best role, but his voice was great. Cameron Diaz was too cliché. Enough said.

If you want a movie you can watch with music lovers of all ages, watch this movie.
