Kay Hooper is the brightest new star of suspense fiction. Now the New York Times bestselling author who's built a reputation for keeping her readers' pulse in the red zone delivers a thriller that will stun the senses--all six of them. This time a psychic special agent and a gritty cop must stop a brutal killer with a chilling M.O. and an unstoppable... Sense of Evil .

The victims are always the same: beautiful, successful, and blond. Someone was able to coax these intelligent and confident women away from safety. Someone was able to gain their trust long enough to do the unthinkable. Their shocking murders have terrified the inhabitants of a small, peaceful town where such heinous crimes are simply not supposed to happen. Police Chief Rafe Sullivan knows he has to find answers fast before another woman is lured to her death--but Sullivan literally doesn't have a clue. And when the FBI sends one of their top profilers to help, he's more than a little surprised that his new partner is nothing like the straight-by-the-book "suit" he expects.Special Agent Isabel Adams is tough, fearless, determined, and every bit Sullivan's equal. She's also psychic. And blond.Skeptical of his new partner's ability to get inside the mind of a killer, Sullivan can't deny that Isabel has tuned in to the killer's wavelength, is following the twisted thoughts of a murderer obsessed with stalking, seduction, and death. But in getting so close, Isabel has set herself up as the next victim. Now, with time running out, she and Rafe will find themselves forced to take the greatest risk of all, because this psychopath is playing for keeps and Isabel is the perfect trophy. Unable to turn back, Isabel may have already gone too far. Smart, savvy, and confident, she may find that the very qualities that have kept her alive could turn out to be her undoing. For Isabel has entered the world of a cold-blooded monster who kills without mercy and eludes every sense but one...the sense of evil.

I am disappointed in this book and am having difficulty "sticking with it". I've been reading other books which are far more riveting and this one acts as a "filler" between other books, which I read through until the end. I don't know why I am having difficulty staying focused on this story, it just hasn't had the "grab my attention" effect that other books have had.

Very good psychological thriller! It's a little gory but it keeps a person engaged.

Well, the title really fits this one. Gave me chills, and left me continuously guessing. Moments of humour, but somewhat gory...if you have my imagination, at least!

I couldn't put this one down once I started. From the first page you can never be sure of what you know because just when you get mildly comfortable with the facts the proverbial rug is pulled out from underneath you. What you think you know you don't and what you've learned through the series doesn't help much with this new killer. The murders and crime scenes are brutally graphic. Hooper's description and attention to detail makes the violence come alive in a way that causes you to leave the lights on in the hallway.

While the murderer isn't at all who I expected it to be it's not the kind where you're annoyed because it seems like the author just closed their eyes and picked a character to play villain.

What I loved most about this book was that the relationship between Rafe and Isabel isn't an easy one. They are old flames shoved into a situation once more. Neither knows anything about the other, except when Isabel uses her 'special gifts' to prove to Rafe that she's the real deal. Otherwise these are two people coming together to stop evil and how their relationship pans out isn't forced nor rushed. In fact, I wish we could have a sequel were we get to see these two hone their skills, that we'd get to see them the way we didn't with Bishop and Miranda.

It was also so enjoyable to have Hollis back. To find out how's she's handled becoming a medium after the incidents from "Touching Evil".

p 177. You don't fight evil with an army. You fight it with will. Yours. Mine. The will of every human soul who cares about the outcome. I can't say I thought much about it until what happened to me. But once you've seen evil up close, once you've had your entire life changed by it, then you see a lot of things more clearly.
