By the title, I was expecting the history of chess along with 50 chess moves, maybe a 50-move game, but instead it was 50 short chapters about the history of chess. The coverage of chess history is very good for the relativity small amount of space used, and it is up-to-date as of the publication date. For more details on the history of chess, however, one should see the history by Murray.
