What an incredibly enjoyable twist on the standard super-disciplined assassin-for-hire story. Be warned, there is violence, and it does get a bit over-the-top toward the end - that was the only thing that kept me from going to a full five stars.

I thoroughly enjoyed this. A really complex character in a difficult life. Fascinating to see Ben pull off someone so deep.
Best work, and range, I've ever seen J.K. Simmons do!

Too much shooting. Too many guns. Otherwise it was entertaining.

Who thought "The Accountant" would be a good title for a movie? What's next, "The Comptroller?" "The HR Specialist?"

An odd, action-packed homage to folks with autistism. Affleck & Seth Lee play Christian Wolff, an autistic person, likely with Asperger Syndrome, who, with his brother Braxton, played by beautiful by Jon Bernthal, are trained to be tough and capable by their US Army officer father. Affleck becomes a world accomplished accountant and assassin who donates his fees to an autism foundation. No! Really!! Considering this movie is a "run-of-the-mill" "shoot 'em up/Robin Hoodesque" flick, the nuances of the movie, the script, most acting, and the special effects blesses it with my near highest watch-this-movie rating.

Directed by Gavin O'Connor in 2016, this action-packed thriller delves into the life and struggle of a small-town Illinois certified public accountant with high-functioning autism who actually makes his living uncooking the books of dangerous criminal organizations around the world.
Although I enjoyed the movie as an entertaining piece, I can hardly believe that such an superhero-type accountant acts like a die-hard agent in the real world.
If you've got realistic eyes, you definitely need a willing suspension of disbelief.
The performances of the actors including Ben Affleck seems mediocre, if not amateurish.

a great movie experience

Affleck brings big-screen charisma, understated wit, and a hint of tenderness to the role of Chris, a man who wants to connect with other people but doesn’t quite know how;

This might not be a problem—plenty of actioners are enjoyably amoral—if The Accountant didn’t simultaneously insist on pitching itself as a message movie on behalf of people with autism.

A pretty good B movie. Probably one of Ben's better ones. Anna Kendrick is an excellent choice for his costar in this role.

Certainly not great cinema, but a good way to spend a relaxing evening with beer and pizza

Christian Wolff: My father was an officer in the army. Psychological operations. He was concerned that I might be taken advantage of somehow, so he arranged for me to train with a number of specialists throughout my childhood. We lived in 34 homes in 17 years.

Dana Cummings: You moved 34 times?

Christian Wolff: Mm-hm.

Dana Cummings: God, that's extraordinary. I'm sure it must have been difficult. I haven't been anywhere. Well, Cancun - not my proudest moment.

1 in 68 children in this country are diagnosed with a form of autism. But if you can put aside for a moment what your pediatrician and all the other NT's have said about your son...
Neuro-typicals. The rest of us. What if we're wrong? What if we've been using the wrong tests to quantify intelligence in children with autism? Your son's not less-than. He's different. Now, your expectations for your son may change over time, they might include marriage, children, self-sufficiency. They might not. But I guarantee you. If we let the world set expectations for our children, they'll start low and they'll stay there. Maybe your son is capable of much more than you know. And maybe... Just maybe... He doesn't understand how to tell us. Or... we haven't yet learned how to listen.
I was trying to connect. I think no matter how different, we're all trying to do the same thing.

Some of my clients are...quite dangerous.
-I kind of consider fairly dangerous myself.
Well, you've made an improvement.
Say you're the head of the Sinaloa Cartel. Now the cartels count their money in eighteen wheelers. But one sunny Mexican day, your in-house money scrubber comes to you and says you're 30 million light. Who can you trust to do the forensic accounting to track your stolen cash? Deloitte & Touche? H & R Block?
Dolores, when you order supplies, do you order online?
-I don't, I just run over to the beads store.
-I drive, the truck.
The company truck.
Well, initially he was just stealing and garden-variety taxes evasion. But he came up with a better idea. You see, by taking his own money, stealing it and putting it back on his books. It was raining cash. He took the company public at eight dollars a share. A year later it was trading at seventy-five.
