I Just read this to my 4 year old. It is very accessible, and I think my older two kids (7&9) will appreciate it even more. Obviously, the 4 year old doesn't have the historical context for Mrs. Tubman's life story, but even she could understand the messages being conveyed (she said it was so sad) and the power of Tubman's choices ("that's a lot of risky walking!").
