I liked the Robin Hood with Russell Crowe in it back in 2010. I have watched a lot of different movies done on Robin Hood even the Dave Allen at large skit and this Robin Hood would fall in the middle. I was a little disappointed in the tale. I also missed the over weight friar tuck who was portrayed as not much a church type of person but at the time of friar tuck the church was completely corrupt and was all about the $. Friar tuck was not and hence left the church to be the spirit guide for all of the people who was hiding in the woods and under the protection of Robin the hood and his merry men. This Friar tuck was too skinny. I also did not take to the new angle of Little John. In this one Little John was a Muslim where all the others he was an English slow witted big ox. But Little John was loyal to Robin. The movie had a lot of action and fancy horse ridding but my odds with the movie is the conflict I had with the other movies I have watched about Robin Hood compared to this one.

Really disappointing... I agree that the people are too clean, fashion is too contemporary, but worst of all they took a classic English folktale and turned it into a political escapade mocking the church, Christianity, painting only a negative picture of the crusades, and mocking God. That becomes a further insult when you consider that this tale was born in a time and culture that owes a lot to Christianity.

Great action acting and adventure. Good story. Beautiful cast.

This movie tries to rip off so many other better movies like Zorro, Batman, some sort of modern war movie and so on. Treating Bows like guns, rapid fire bows/crossbows, rocket crossbows, 3 person shoulder mounted crossbows that shoot 8 quarrels, riot shields, signal arrows to call in "artillery" trebuchets, etc...

They even have Two Face from Batman in this movie.

I can only give 1 star for some of the visuals but everything else is ridiculous when it comes to costumes, weaponry, plotline, characters and so on. They should've gone with some steam punk world rather then a super loose based historical medieval setting.

Quite the RH version! Great CGI. I am a new fan and a renewed fan of the two lead characters and actors portraying. It is probably more a task to remake a classic these days and the precision here is appreciable.

An interesting AU (alternate universe) mashup of war movies and a classic tale. Much grittier and doesn't have the pop music that made Knights tale so fun.

I was not expecting to like this film, since the other Robin Hood movies I've seen were boring. Within the first scene I was hooked. The casting was spot on and I liked the more modern take with the costumes and scenery. It reminded me of when I first saw The Mask of Zorro years ago. Eve Hewson was mesmerizing. I didn't realize until afterwards that she's Bono's daughter, so no wonder she's talented.

I don't understand the negative reviews. This is a really fun movie to watch. Sure, you have to get used to the inaccurate costuming, but it's meant to be a modern take of a classic tale. Some fantastical stuff, but it's just Hollywood. Just enjoy the movie and forget about historical accuracy.

This was so bad it rates -5 stars. Horrible costuming and sets, looks like those old 60s period pieces where the woman had a ton of eye make up and beehive hair; completely unrealistic. Abysmal acting, laughable script, absolutely no continuity or interest. I couldn't make it longer than 20 minutes. DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME with this mess.

Not interesting at all. No finesse. The horses were the best part of the whole movie.

Robin and Marian. Seasons passed, their romance blossomed. They were young, in love, and that was all that mattered... until... the cold hand of fate
reached out for them. He stole from the rich and gave to the poor. It became a bedtime story. But listen, forget history. Forget what you've seen before. Forget what you think you know. This is no bedtime story. If stealing a few coins was all he did, all he was, Robin of Loxley would never have become... Robin Hood. I knew him when he was just another lord of the manor. A good life, an easy one. Born with everything, want for nothing. ... What he didn't know was... what we are born into ... isn't always who we are.

Let him live, I'll tell you what I know. Everything. He knows nothing. Me for him! I've been killing Crusaders all my life. My every breath is an insult to your God. Please!
Where is Marian?
-Look, things have taken rather a turn since you've been gone, Robin. After you died, the Sheriff seized Loxley Manor as collateral for his war tax and threw Marian out. And it's not just her. He's crushing us all with his war effort. Tolls, collections.
This war, all wars, and everything happening here, it's as old as time. Rich men getting richer. Men of power taking more power from the blood of innocents. Yours, mine, and my son's.
Stealing from the rich to give to the poor? He's taking the piss out of the whole damn natural order.
-Oh, you flatter him. He's a smash and grabber, nothing more. And hideously ugly, hence that ridiculous hood.

When did I lose your trust?
-Your way. All your politics. It's not changing anything.
I think he wants to be their martyr. So let's give him a fate worse than death. Revoke his church. Defrock him! And throw him to the streets. That should cut him a little deeper than any blade could.

The church does not consider the raiding of its treasury petty.
-Ah, he barely escaped, and he got away with nothing.
But what's dangerous is the audacity of his crimes. He's got our commoners
looking up, seeing hope. We want their backs bent and heads bowed. There's been whispers of revolt. Unchecked, those whispers will build into a roar.
You could tell how long the last beating was because the color of the welts would go from red to blue, to yellow. Finally, they would go to pink, and the skin would harden. And by that time, Loxley, you had to make a choice. You're gonna let them beat the strength out of you or they're gonna beat it into you.

If you want me to give up the thief, at least give me the respect and try and beat it out of me.
-No. You'd just die on me out of spite.
Humans are the only species that fear death. Not just the threat of it, but its finality.
-That's what separates us from the insects and the dogs. The Arab, however, doesn't fear death at all because your false prophet promised you the garden.
A man without faith. Lonely.
Without judgment, no sin.
We stare death in the face with courage and honor.
-Really? Because I was told that your boy begged for his life right up until the moment that we took his head from his neck. Decapitation's a funny thing because the eyes keep seeing. The mind goes on trying to deny death. Even if it's just for a few more moments.

Fate plays its part. And it's the way of things that as one story ends... another begins.
Today, we face a threat from these barbarians in Arabia. They hate us... Our freedom, our culture, our religion. But today, they face The Near Enemy, which is our Crusaders, in the desert.
God isn't here, it's just me!
The sheriff will have all his Crossmen on that convoy. A legion of them, no doubt. Elite killers armed to the teeth, and the city streets so you can forget about the element of surprise. We'll be lambs to the slaughter. This is...
-Suicide, yeah, we get it.
Four years ago, I marched off to fight for a liar's cause. Left my heart, came home an heir to nothing. The question is what would you do to get back what's yours?
