Move over Sirs Elton J., Paul Mac, and you too, Bono! Here's Sir Van Morrison! Check out his latest CD and DVD concerts: V.M. sings/swings and of course, plays guitar, sax, harmonica, etc. Getting older and jazzier, with a solid foundation of rock, blues, yet here's Morrison at his jazziest. His renditions of the classics make good company with Billie, Ella, Dinah and other great vocalists! Check out: Making Whoopie, Got U under my Skin, Foggy Day, and many more.

Van might record with Bob Dylan and they could record a version of "The Songbook Series" Norman Granz did with Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughan and Louis Armstrong, and others, by composers Cole Porter, Gershwin, Van Heusen, Cahn, Berlin, Arlen etc.; i.e. the American Standards. Is there an arranger strong enough to handle those egos and are their voices harmonious enough together? Van always incorporated Standards (My Funny Valentine Left my Heart...etc) into his medleys since the late 90s. Bob has gone down that road in the last five years, now half his shows are interspersed with Standards to make very interesting, if not confused, entertainment for some. However; the path back can open exploratory avenues going forward. What worked for Jazz for almost a century can only revitalize music today, Van on this album achieves this.
