Yaa. This is a long film from the Hallmark folks which still resonates years later. Glenn Close is believable as the mail-order wife from seaside Maine that is looking for something different. Christopher Walken, though not one of my favorites actors, does a good job in portraying a man of the prairie and it's harsh beauty. (I'm a prairie girl and it's true what they say about your name written in the land. Even years later I still feel that connection and miss the open skies, fierce thunder storms and chilling Winters.) The two children seem well-suited to their roles as well. Shot on location in Emporia, Kansas this movie is family fair: sweet, gentle, not shocking and NO guns. Date movie? If romanticism can be found on the harsh prairie this is the one for you.
