Calypso, Harry Belafonte's third album, became a pop-culture sensation in 1956, establishing Belafonte as an international star and igniting a Calypson craze that took America by storm. Calypso was also a music-industry milestone, becoming the first single-artist album to sell a million copies. The album features the immortal Belafonte hits "Day-O (Banana Boat Song)" and "Jamaica Farewell".
