-Jack Reacher is the coolest continuing series character now on offer.---Stephen King, in Entertainment Weekly

#1 New York Times bestselling author Lee Child follows the electrifying 61 Hours with his latest Reacher thriller--a story that hits the ground running and then accelerates all the way to a colossal showdown.
There's deadly trouble in the corn country of Nebraska . . . and Jack Reacher walks right into it. First he falls foul of the Duncans, a local clan that has terrified an entire county into submission. But it's the unsolved case of a missing child, already decades-old, that Reacher can't let go.
The Duncans want Reacher gone--and it's not just past secrets they're trying to hide. They're awaiting a secret shipment that's already late--and they have the kind of customers no one can afford to annoy. For as dangerous as the Duncans are, they're just the bottom of a criminal food chain stretching halfway around the world.
For Reacher, it would have made much more sense to keep on going, to put some distance between himself and the hard-core trouble that's bearing down on him.
For Reacher, that was also impossible.
Worth Dying For is the kind of explosive thriller only Lee Child could write and only Jack Reacher could survive--a heart-racing page-turner no suspense fan will want to miss.

Never use Aspirin (or the generic brand) if you are bleeding; it's an anti-coagulant use to prevent lethal blood clots. Diabetes is one of these illnesses.

This is my first Jack Reacher book and I have to say that I don't get what all the hype is about. He's an okay character but I'm not impressed with what happened at the end. Revenge is not the answer and as for what he encouraged others to do just ticks me off. I know its just a book, but that type of thing turns me off reading anything further.....also, worst reader ever. How I ever got thru this one is beyond me. (and what is Hollywood thinking casting Tom Cruise in this role??)

For a change of pace, I tried an audiobook (book on CD). I didn't like it as much. While the story was great and all, like the other Jack Reacher novels, I didn't like having to swap out the disks all the time and moving at the reader's pace. Jack arrives in a small Nebraska town and runs afoul of the local bad guys which then creates a chain of events which leads to people hunting him down. No love interest in this book. Just an emotional connection with both a childless mother and a battered wife. I liked this one the best of the Reacher novels. He just wants to do the right thing and ends up getting more involved than he wanted to.

Worth Dying For begins with a sniper setting up an ambush for Jack Reacher. The novel then flashes back to Reacher’s arrival in a remote town in Nebraska where Reacher browbeats an alcoholic doctor into treating an abused wife. Needless to say he upsets very powerful people who have illicit dealings taking place. Readers of this series will know that Reacher is invincible and that he will come out on top. The fun is in knowing how he does it. All is not fun in the novel though as the ultimate revelation is disturbing and thought provoking. Worth Dying For is a solid entry in a series that hasn’t disappointed so far.

Wonderful, as always. Reacher is on his way to Virginia, continuing where he left off in 61 Hours. Again, he is in a rural area, this time in Nebraska. He has been let off near a small motel, the Apollo Inn, in the middle of nowhere. There is one other patron at the motel bar, a doctor well on his way to getting drunk. When a call comes in from a patient of the doctor, Reacher insists on driving him to the patient's home. What he finds there set him off against the victim's husband and gets the husband eager to have revenge. As usual, one thing leads to another, and Reacher is heavily involved.
The community is one bound to a very controlling family, seemingly locked in a situation they can't get out of. Some of the situation there are in is due to the family's greed. But there is also an incident dating back 25 years to a missing child that has set the community against each other. Reacher finds himself investigating this old case to try to find the truth, and he finds so much more. International smuggling is part of the scene and some very determined people are involved.
A great listen, very entertaining, with pageturning action.

Classic Reacher. Sometimes Reacher is judge and jury and you will find yourself sympathic to his brand of justice. Exciting, fast moving, well written. 9 of 10 for me.

My favorite Reacher novel of them all! Not for the faint of heart, or those who don't believe in an eye for an eye. 10 of 10 stars
