Three Amigos is an extravaganza of colorful, even psychedelic, joyous animation energy, liberally mixed with live action. My personal favorite scene is the cactus dance near the end, but there are plenty more. Superstar Donald shares the stage with Mexican chorro rooster Panchito and suave Brazilian parrot Carrioca Joe, both of whom more then hold their own with Donald. They make a wonderful, threesome. Saludos Amigos is a shorter quasi travelogue, something of a warm up for 3 Caballeros, which introduces Carrioca Joe to Donald in a GREAT animation called Watercolor from Brazil, which may have influenced Chuck Jone's Duck Amuck. Plus there are some nice extras on the disk. Not a bad film to dvd to save for a rainy day.

In this film the 3 Caballeros are Donald Duck, Panchito, the rooster, and Joe Carioca, the parrot..... This very colorful Disney production from 1944 nicely mixes animation with live-action. It closely follows Donald, Panchito, and Joe on their "good neighbor policy" tour as they salute the wonders of South America..... With narration by Sterling Halloway, The 3 Caballeros contains 7 intertwined sequences that feature the lively songs and music of Latin America..... This is a very delightful, high-energy film that even allows us the chance to see Donald Duck completely naked. (Shocking!).... I certainly recommend this film for the enjoyment of all ages.
