This was a terrific movie. Cate is a superb actress and her supporting cast is interesting, funny, and not in the way of the story. There are, of course, wonderful location shots of NYC and SF, with Woodie Allen at the director's helm. I was into this film from the opening to the closing credits. I rooted for Blue Jasmine's triumphant Hollywood ending. But, Woodie Allen doesn't do Hollywood movies. He does Woodie Allen movies. I wanted maybe 5 minutes more, but it is what it is. This is an entertaining film with an intelligent storyline, and a dark, funny and compelling performance from Blanchett. I'd watch her doing almost anything. She's one of those completely committed wonders of the screen of whom there are few these days. She's fragile and beautiful in this film. And, she's really the only reason this film was worth watching. I think I've figured out what the ending meant, but I'd only be guessing.
