This British writer/cook will expand your repertoire of dishes incredibly. It's fun to read, too. Many of her recipes are way too complicated for me, but some I'd love to try. One is a version of fish and chips with peas that would take hours. But the fish itself, dipped in egg, then in grits/polenta (no cheese here) and left to sit until the fish is totally crusted over, then fried, sounds heavenly and wouldn't take terribly long. It can be accompanied by pureed minted peas and/or fried small potatoes, which also look heavenly. Some Middle Eastern and Indian dishes also look lovely. Desserts abound, though some have many steps to them. She's been cooking and writing for decades, and the photography's wonderful too. So far I haven't tried any of the recipes but I've made copies.
