“Courting Darkness” is a tale-filled book, full of self struggle and adventure. The protagonists, Sybella and Genevieve, are two female teens, both of which are Death’s daughters. The story has them in two different countries after a war in which there was no apparent winner. Sybella, trained to be the deadliest of Death’s daughters, is in Brittany, the side whom seems to have lost, helping her side wrestle out a victory. Which leads her to be in such a situation where none of which she was taught was of any use. Genevieve, an undercover agent on the other side, France, must remember who she is, and help wrestle victory for Brittany. In the story, the imagery is wonderful and paints a vivid picture in the mind. The protagonists each have a complex backstory and change throughout the story. There are splashes of humor here and there with some subtle foreshadowing. “ Courting Darkness” is for those readers that don’t mind bloodshed and are ready for puzzling and confusing backstories that appear during the book. This book for me, personally would be a recommended. - Anonymous
