I feel that this film captures the book pretty well. There are a few changes in the details (i.e. extra details not in the book, change of details in the book) but I thought it still followed the original story-line fairly faithfully. The child actors and actresses were amazing. There are some movies where the actors are convincing but you can still tell they're acting. These children embraced their roles so well I was completely drawn in, and can't hardly imagine them as anyone else. :) I'm not sure what to say on age; some 7, 8 year-olds and up might do very well with it, but it's a sad enough story (health troubles, dark rooms, poor depressed - heartbroken - man) that I myself would decide based on the child. :) This is not because the story is so very mature, but rather the movie just portrayed it so accurately; sometimes reading and imagining it is very different from seeing it. A charming classic.
