Interesting premise and competent plotting marred by mediocre writing. The characters are cookie-cutter (e.g., foul-mouthed Russian fearful of showing initiative, American whose German is Yiddish-inflected, underchallenged housewife), the prose is repetitive and too expository, and the action is boring (even the exciting parts were boring--zero tension). Women hardly feature except as sexual props. Overall, not really worthwhile and I rushed through the last 100 pages just to get it over with.
